Choose the kind of signature element you need
A typed name in a script font is editable text. A drawn mark is artwork. Google’s eSignature feature is a separate request-and-sign workflow. Decide which result the document actually needs before choosing letter shapes. For a visual name line, keep the person’s correct spelling and sufficient space around capitals and descenders. Do not describe a decorative font selection as proof that a person completed a signing process.
Format a typed name using Docs font controls
Google’s desktop formatting instructions say to select the text and choose a family from the Font menu. Its More fonts dialog can be searched for categories such as script. Compare the complete name at the document’s final size, not only an enlarged specimen. The font choices visible in the account determine this workflow; installing a desktop font does not by itself demonstrate that it appears in the Docs menu.
Use the drawing tools when the result should be artwork
Google documents Insert, Drawing, New for creating a drawing within a desktop document. The line tools include Scribble, which follows a dragged pointer. Keep the drawing readable at the inserted size and retain a separate text label where it helps identify the name. This is a drawing operation rather than choosing a font style for ordinary editable characters.
Follow eSignature instructions for a signature request
Google’s eSignature documentation lists eligible plans and administrator conditions for creating requests. A signer can use Type or Draw in the signature dialog; Type creates a standard-style signature from the entered name. Follow the relevant request workflow when that is the intended task. The signature-font collection provides independent visual comparisons, while the general Google Docs guide covers broader font and default-style settings.
Your questions, answered.
Can I use a decorative script font instead of Google’s signature-request workflow?
They serve different purposes. A font formats text; the documented eSignature process manages a request and its completion.
Does a font preview here add that family to Google Docs?
No. Use the actual Docs font menu and More fonts dialog to see the available choices.
