Find the appearance preferences
Open Discord’s user settings and look for Appearance. Its official guide describes Chat Font Scaling and Message Group Spacing within the appearance controls. Menu organization can differ on mobile.
On mobile, the documented route begins with your avatar, then the settings cog and Appearance. Use the available controls for the current app version rather than assuming desktop and mobile panels are identical.
Separate scaling from zoom
Chat Font Scaling adjusts chat text; zoom also affects the surrounding interface. Discord documents Ctrl/Cmd with plus or minus for zoom. The zoom level can amplify the selected text scaling.
If the text alone is too small, compare scaling first. If buttons and other interface elements also need enlargement, compare the zoom setting.
Keep message wording readable
Change one setting and compare a short message with a longer paragraph. Message spacing affects the separation between groups, while font size changes the text itself.
Your own appearance choice is not a request that every recipient use the same display settings. For decorated characters, read Unicode text versus fonts before using a Discord text generator.
Use a real font workflow for artwork
If you need a designed title image, use a real font preview and keep the source family with the project. An image preserves pixels; it does not turn Discord’s chat composer into a font-file editor.
For another chat environment, compare the Slack guide.
Your questions, answered.
Will chat scaling change how other people see my message?
It is your display preference. Recipients control their own reading environment.
Is scaling the same as choosing any downloaded font?
No. The documented scaling control changes size. It is not an arbitrary font-file upload control.
