Search for a known family or identify an image first
Adobe Fonts’ catalog provides search alongside Browse all, font packs, foundries and other discovery routes. If you know a family name, begin with the actual catalog and open the matching resource before adding it to your account. Record the foundry and exact family rather than relying on a familiar-looking title.
For an unknown image, Adobe documents a different camera/upload workflow: select a line, check the recognized text and compare the returned candidates. The image-identification guide explains that task. A candidate search is not the same as adding an available font, and neither step alone proves that an uncredited wordmark is an unchanged retail family. Once a suitable resource is identified, continue with the documented font-adding workflow below.
Open the font workspace
Adobe’s current installation guide says to open the Creative Cloud desktop app and select the Fonts icon at the upper right. In the left panel choose Added fonts. This is the shared font-management workspace rather than the font menu inside one document.
Install a family or a style
Find the desired family and choose Install family. Adobe also documents an install icon beside an individual style. Choose the styles the document actually requires; a regular style and a bold style are separate resources even when grouped under one family name.
Keep the application task separate
Return to the application where the text is being edited and use its font controls. A resource-management action and formatting a particular text layer are different steps. The Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign guides describe their own editing contexts.
Record a useful handoff
Keep the exact family and style names with the project. When sharing editable work, identify the resource another editor needs rather than sending only a screenshot of the lettering. Preserve any separately licensed original files and their source information.
Your questions, answered.
Can I install only one style?
Yes. Adobe’s guide documents an install control for an individual font style.
Is installing a family the same as formatting my document?
No. It makes the resource available through the documented workflow; select the intended text and family in the authoring application.
Should I search by family name or upload an image?
Use the catalog when you know the family or want to browse. Use Adobe’s image-search route when you have a picture to compare. Then review the exact resource before adding it.
