Newspaper Font Generator

Compare actual fonts, personalize the colors and save your words as an image.

Try an original headline in several serif directions. This tool makes a headline image; the layout of a complete newspaper page still needs columns, hierarchy and readable article text.

Choose the image dimensions above; the status shows the exported size and fitted text size. Text fits within the canvas automatically. Artwork width changes horizontal proportions; 100% keeps the original shapes. It is not a font file or copyable colored text.

01

Compare the full headline in the same space

Type your own headline, choose a family and adjust its maximum size. Review the line wrapping before setting colors or selecting a transparent background. Download the completed 1400 × 650 PNG after the font loads.

A concise phrase provides a more useful title-card comparison than a whole article squeezed into an image. Keep the actual article text editable in the document or page that will contain the headline.

02

Use named serif resources rather than a universal newspaper alphabet

Source Serif 4’s project draws loosely on Pierre Simon Fournier while remaining a contemporary design intended to complement Source Sans. Crimson Text’s source places it in an old-style book-type tradition. Lora is another independent serif comparison.

They are not identified here as the production fonts of a particular newspaper. Their histories provide context for a new layout, not a verified match for a masthead or an old clipping.

03

Separate masthead, headline and reading text

Write the publication name, article heading, byline and date as separate roles. A strong masthead need not share the article’s font or scale. Keep a caption close to the image it explains and preserve a clear route from headline to body.

For broader historical and layout context, read the newspaper font guide. Generating a headline image does not produce a complete multicolumn article or a publication’s official identity.

04

Check the headline where it will be used

Place the image into the intended layout and inspect the smallest likely display size. Compare the line breaks against the available column width. Keep the headline available as ordinary text when the information must remain searchable or accessible in a web article.

Record the family and the exact words alongside the PNG. For a later correction, revise the editable wording instead of trying to patch letters inside a flattened image.

GOOD QUESTIONS

Your questions, answered.

Does the generator identify a newspaper’s exact font?

No. It provides independently named serif options for an original headline. A particular publication or historical edition needs its own identification evidence.

Does the PNG include a whole newspaper page?

No. It exports the text image shown in the tool. Use a layout editor or structured web page for columns, articles, pictures and navigation.
