Tiempos: background and attribution
Kris Sowersby developed Tiempos from work on Galaxie Copernicus for a newspaper-oriented brief. Released in 2010, the project grew into a distinct editorial serif system.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
Tiempos Text addresses sustained reading, while Headline and Fine serve different display roles. The source relates the collection to the practical lineage of Plantin and Times without making those branches interchangeable.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Try a text column and a large title using the appropriate branch at the publisher’s preview. Keep Text, Headline and Fine explicit when recording files or comparing substitutions.
For independent comparisons, try Faustina and Lora. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
Official preview and font resources

The editable alternatives here have their own source profiles and included licenses. For the difference between a font file and copied characters, read Unicode text versus fonts.
