Identify the album rather than assume one permanent band font
K-Type’s A Moon Shaped Font account identifies Deansgate on Radiohead’s 2016 album A Moon Shaped Pool, including its covers, booklets and publicity. The foundry says it created a new Light weight specifically for designer Stanley Donwood and subsequently added Light weights to both Deansgate families. This is a confirmed album-specific resource. It does not establish that Radiohead’s earlier albums, every merchandise item or a separate band emblem use the same family.
Compare the normal and condensed resources without stretching
The original Deansgate family page connects its normal and condensed designs to Manchester street-nameplate lettering. It identifies a pointed Z and pointed M/W details, and lists Light, Regular and Bold with corresponding italics in each family. Compare MOON SHAPED in the actual Light resources, holding size and tracking constant before judging the width. A condensed drawing is a separate resource, not simply a normal font squeezed horizontally. Use the actual title and punctuation when checking an edition; a similarly named Light from another family is not the commissioned drawing.
Make a cover study and an information proof separately
For an original listening-room release, make one square composition with a restrained title and another with the track list, credits and catalog information. Test the title at cover size and as a small thumbnail, then judge the detailed copy independently. Keep your chosen font, weight, width and spacing in the project notes. The homepage’s decorative characters to copy are Unicode substitutions; they do not preserve Deansgate’s outlines or an album’s layout. Follow the actual foundry resource for the family and relevant terms, and use a dated album credit when attributing the original application.
Your questions, answered.
Which Radiohead album is the confirmed Deansgate example here?
K-Type identifies A Moon Shaped Pool from 2016 and says its Light weight was created for Stanley Donwood.
Does the documented commission make Deansgate the font for every Radiohead album?
No. The account concerns a particular album and its related materials. Research another release separately.
