Identify the film, intertitle or separate font resource
In Jules Durand’s original account for Blaze Type, the modern Nosferatu project began with Sarah Salomé Delétain’s 2022 ANRT collaboration on hand-painted silent-film intertitles. She later completed it with Durand. The foundry’s family page describes a loose revival of lettering from the 1922 film and states that the original intertitle calligrapher remains unknown. Separately, Kiwi Media’s Nosferatu listing identifies a different named resource. Match the exact film year, image and maker before choosing; the revival does not establish the font of a 2024 poster or any other version.
Compare script variants without turning every word into ornament
Blaze Type documents one weight, three stylistic sets and interlaced ligatures. Its account describes slanted, monolinear writing linked to Kurrent and Sütterlin rather than treating all gothic lettering as the same construction. In a licensed trial or actual family, set an original short sentence with repeated letters. Preserve one default reference, then change one stylistic set at a time. Inspect whether the repetitions remain coherent and whether joined forms obscure a word. Do not judge all variants from a single dramatic initial. Pinyon Script and UnifrakturMaguntia are independent comparisons that help distinguish a script rhythm from dense blackletter; neither renders the revival.
Build an original intertitle sequence around reading time
Create three short caption cards: an opening location, a personal letter and a transition. Keep one stable text area while varying only the role of the wording. Read each card aloud while viewing it at its planned screen size, then shorten a crowded sentence before adding decoration or compressing letters. Give an expressive opening word its own proof, and inspect punctuation and line breaks in the ordinary sentence below. Keep the font maker and selected variant in the editable master so later cards remain consistent. Our homepage copyable text-style options replace Unicode characters; they do not install a revival family, preserve its ligatures or identify a film poster.
Your questions, answered.
Is this the exact font on every Nosferatu poster?
No. Identify the film version and specific artifact. The cited revival concerns documented 1922 intertitle research; another poster or a separately named family needs its own evidence.
Should every alternate or ligature be enabled together?
Compare a default sentence with one changed feature at a time. Keep the version whose words remain clear and whose repeated letters suit the actual caption, rather than maximizing decoration.
