Identify Positype’s two-variant design
Positype credits Marshmallow to Neil Summerour and describes two high-contrast variants: connected Script and unconnected Fluff. Its publisher account documents swash and stylistic alternates, three additional stylistic sets, titling forms, ligatures and numerical features including fractions. The MyFonts catalog records a February 24, 2017 debut. A separate T.26 Marshmallow is credited to Ben Balvanz and lists Regular, Italic, Superpuff, Superpuff Italic and Outline. Those five styles are not additional variants of Summerour’s Positype design.
Compare the connections with identical wording
Set the same short brand or event name in Script and Fluff at comparable visible sizes. Keep the line break and surrounding space fixed, then inspect whether the connections help the word read as one gesture or make its interior too busy. Compare the complete word at the smallest required output size. Do not choose solely from a large capital specimen: include lowercase joins, repeated letters and punctuation from the actual project before deciding which variant belongs in the layout.
Proof the contrast under real production conditions
Place the heading in the intended color on the actual background, with a black-on-white copy beside it. Print or export at final size and inspect the thinnest connecting strokes and interior gaps. Test a reversed version separately rather than assuming it will reproduce like the dark-on-light version. If small details disappear, enlarge the title or simplify its surroundings before adding a stroke outline. Compare a shorter title as an alternative to forcing an intricate word into a narrow space.
Choose alternates and supporting numbers deliberately
Save a default-text version before exploring stylistic sets. Change one setting at a time and compare the entire heading so a decorative substitution cannot hide an unintended word shape. For a price, date or fraction that belongs in the design, test the actual numerical forms supported by the purchased package and application. The Lilita One, Fredoka and Baloo 2 specimens here are independent display comparisons, not Marshmallow files. Consult the appropriate creator source for the selected family and its exact feature inventory.
Your questions, answered.
Are Marshmallow Script and Fluff separate weights?
Positype describes them as connected and unconnected variants. Do not treat their different connection behavior as a simple increase or decrease in weight.
Does Positype Marshmallow include T.26’s Superpuff and Outline?
Those names belong to Ben Balvanz’s separate T.26 product. Check the foundry and exact package rather than merging styles from same-name families.
