Filson Soft Font

Olivier Gourvat designed Filson Soft for Mostardesign Type Foundry, which records its release on January 13, 2016. It is a rounded relative of Filson Pro, with its own softened terminals and distinctive letter details. The family should therefore be evaluated as a particular rounded design rather than treated as a software effect applied to Filson Pro. The publisher credits Igino Marini for the spacing and kerning work.

Eight weights run from Thin through Heavy, with corresponding italics making sixteen styles. A large x-height supports the family’s overall proportions, while the K, Q and R receive particular attention in the creator’s description.
