01

Digital 7: background and attribution

Digital 7 is credited to Style-7 on its creator listing at DaFont, where it appears in the LCD category. The listing records an initial appearance in 2008 and an update in 2013. These are directory dates; they do not independently establish the first design date.

Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.

02

Forms, styles and what to inspect

The listing identifies regular, italic, mono and mono italic resources. Compare the fixed-width option when arranging changing numbers. Its stated free use is personal use, so a free personal download should not be described as unrestricted commercial permission.

Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.

03

Try it in a real layout

Prepare a clock-like label containing hours, minutes and punctuation, then a row of different digit combinations. Compare alignment in the mono resource. A digital-looking typeface draws characters; it does not supply a functioning timer or automatically update the displayed values.

For independent comparisons, try Orbitron and Roboto Mono. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
