Follow the design’s angular detour
Mark Richardson’s original Superfried project account explains that Box began with parallel paths from the studio logo, then developed predominantly square forms. The updated maker catalog dates the design to 2014 and describes a 2025 remaster with altered characters, two additional fonts and revised spacing. This guide concerns that named display family. Empty rectangles appearing in an unrelated document are a missing-character problem, not proof that it is using the Box typeface.
Record which Display or Solid resource you compared
The publisher’s current style list distinguishes Display-2025 and Solid-2025 from Display, Solid, In and Out. Do not collapse those six resources into six weights or assume the older and revised Display will produce identical line breaks. For an existing poster revision, duplicate the title before switching its resource. Keep the text frame, size and wording unchanged, then inspect the first and last letter positions as well as the spaces between words. Record the complete style label with the approved version.
Compare the square construction with the poster grid
Set FORM AND COUNTERFORM in a heading frame above a simple two-column content area. Compare the lettering’s interior spaces with the grid’s gutters and outer margin before adding a decorative border. Try an open treatment and a solid treatment in the original specimen, adjusting the surrounding space rather than horizontally deforming the letters to fit a square. For a message that must remain plain copyable text, the homepage’s Unicode styling tools replace characters. They do not reproduce Superfried’s square outlines or carry a chosen Box edition into another app.
Your questions, answered.
Are Display and Display-2025 interchangeable file names?
The current listing distinguishes them as separate resources. Compare the actual edition’s output rather than assuming matching metrics or spacing.
Is every empty rectangle in text the Box font?
No. The named Superfried family is a display design. An empty replacement box in another document can instead indicate that the selected font lacks a needed glyph.
