Bimbo: background and attribution
Francesco Canovaro created Bimbo for Zetafonts in 2018 by extending and redesigning Arsenale White, originally made with illustrator Jonathan Calugi. The collection retains a handwritten monoline approach. The publisher now distinguishes the original family from an expanded Bimbo Pro edition.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
The classic collection names its styles after writing tools, including Ballpoint, Finetip, Sharpie and Whiteboard, alongside heavier treatments. Its OpenType letter swapping can vary repeated letters. Check the selected edition because the publisher describes additional capitals and character coverage for Pro.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Try a short handwritten label with a repeated-letter word and compare the available alternates. Adjust line spacing around ascenders and descenders. Keep supporting instructions in a clear text face when the handwriting becomes a prominent visual feature.
For independent comparisons, try Handlee and Kalam. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
Official preview and font resources
Use Zetafonts to try the original and investigate the files, styles and terms for your intended workflow. This site does not distribute or serve Bimbo font software.
The editable alternatives here have their own source profiles and included licenses. For the difference between a font file and copied characters, read Unicode text versus fonts.
