Keep exact product names and historical descriptions separate
Scriptorium’s Baroque listing credits David Nalle. A different resource, Baroque Text JF by Jason Walcott, is described by its publisher as blackletter inspired by a calligraphy instruction book. Neither name by itself defines every typeface associated with a historical period. Record the complete family name and maker when requesting a font from a colleague; otherwise the same short description can lead to a very different alphabet.
Choose ornamental capitals for a different job from running text
Retype’s Dejanire account separates its text design from Dejanire Jewel’s ornate capitals, which draw on a Barcelona decree printed in 1800. Klim’s Epicene design account describes a modern interpretation of Baroque forms, explicitly distinguishing it from a revival. These examples show why an embellished title and a paragraph need different proofs. For an original programme, set the event title, a three-line introduction and a small date before deciding which role should carry ornament.
Make the decoration support the hierarchy
Give a decorated initial enough space that its leaves, flourishes or internal details do not merge with the next character. Then inspect the ordinary words around it at the final size. Keep the longest paragraph in a face suited to reading rather than enlarging a decorative alphabet until it fills the page. Cormorant Garamond and Berkshire Swash are independent comparisons for your own layout, not replicas of the cited resources. The homepage’s ornate copyable lettering styles substitutes Unicode characters; it does not deliver those typefaces or their ornaments.
Your questions, answered.
Does Baroque identify one universal historical alphabet?
No. It can be a product name or a descriptive reference. Specify the family, maker and text role.
Can decorative capitals replace a paragraph font?
Evaluate the actual reading task. A display treatment with detailed ornament requires a different proof from a page of continuous text.
