Start with the built-in list instead of one assumed Avery font
Avery’s US font-list help page lists several Avery-named choices, including Avery All Caps, Avery Helvetic, Avery Light, Avery Sans and Avery Serif, alongside other families. It says third-party fonts cannot be imported into Design & Print Online and notes that available formatting can vary. Begin with the actual text role: a name, an address, an amount or a short decorative title. Search the program’s list for the required family rather than assuming that a font installed elsewhere will appear automatically. Montserrat and Lora are independent comparisons here, not downloads of Avery’s named fonts.
Select the intended words and the correct text box
Avery’s formatting instructions place the Text controls in Step 3 Customize. Highlight the text to change its font or other formatting; if separate boxes are involved, edit each relevant box, using Layers when needed to select it. Not all font styles support bold or italic. In an original label proof, keep the product name and variable information in separate boxes so one change does not accidentally enlarge the address or quantity. Compare the longest line first, then inspect punctuation and the smallest essential characters at the actual label dimensions.
Use custom lettering as artwork without pretending it remains editable text
Avery’s custom-font help describes a text-as-image route when a system font is unavailable. Its PowerPoint option uses Save as Picture on a formatted text box, then Image and Add Image in Avery’s Customize screen. Keep the original editable text in its source document so a later spelling change does not require reconstructing the artwork. Inspect the imported lettering at its final size, and avoid enlarging a small raster image until its edges become rough. The homepage copy-and-paste text-style tool changes Unicode characters; it does not add an installed family to Avery’s font list.
Your questions, answered.
Can I upload a TTF or OTF file into Avery Design & Print Online?
Avery’s current US help says third-party and system fonts are not imported directly. It documents adding text as an image instead; preserve the editable source separately.
Why can I not make every Avery font bold or italic?
Avery notes that not all font styles allow those formatting options. Choose an available style or a different family rather than assuming every text box supports every treatment.
