Distinguish the catalog resource from a layout treatment
Arphic’s dated resource schedule explicitly lists AR CENA. In the author’s BINUS comic-design chapter, the title combines AR Cena and Komika Axis with an applied warp, while speech balloons use Anime Ace. The author documents decisions for that particular student project; the warp is not a native AR Cena style, and the other named fonts are separate resources. Keeping these roles distinct makes the example useful without claiming a universal comic font formula.
Compare a plain title before applying a warp
Set your own short comic title in an unchanged text frame and save that version. Duplicate it before adding a curve or warp in a design application. Compare the spacing around the most crowded pair and the shape of the first and last letters; a transformation can alter the composition even when the typed wording remains identical. Patrick Hand is an independent handwritten comparison, not a replacement file carrying the same measurements or a promised match to the documented project.
Give dialogue enough room before decorating the cover
Write a complete speech balloon and a longer caption before finalizing the cover. Compare the text inside the actual available space, changing line breaks before shrinking everything to fit. Kalam provides another independent handwriting specimen for this exercise. The homepage’s handwritten-style text transformations replace Unicode characters for messages; they do not install AR Cena, apply a graphical warp or supply the other comic fonts. Preserve the plain script separately from the visual cover so a later edit does not depend on reading an image.
Your questions, answered.
Is the warp in the BINUS example part of the font itself?
The author describes modifying the title in the layout. Treat that transformation separately from the font resource.
Must the comic title and speech balloons use the same font?
No. The documented project assigns them different resources. Choose each role using the actual length and purpose of its text.
