Adelle: background and attribution
Veronika Burian and José Scaglione released Adelle in 2009 through TypeTogether. The family was developed around demanding editorial settings, combining a slab-serif structure with details that become more visible in larger headings. Adelle Sans is its separately named companion.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
The series includes standard and condensed resources with italics. Its current overview spans multiple branches, so check the selected style’s script coverage and features rather than extending a collection total to every file. Small caps, numeral options and ligatures support different editorial tasks.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Compare a newspaper-style paragraph, a compact subheading and a numeric table. Choose a suitable width before changing tracking. Inspect genuine small capitals and the chosen numeral setting where the article contains abbreviations or aligned figures.
For independent comparisons, try Arvo and Source Serif 4. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
