Wide Fonts

Wide typefaces give letters broader proportions. This structural choice differs from adding tracking, which increases the space between letters without changing the letters themselves.

The collection is a starting point for comparing letterforms. It does not promise that a font used for one project, brand or period is identical to any of these families.

Krona One references Swedish poster lettering and uses semi-extended proportions. Michroma and Syncopate provide different broad display directions. The comparisons help distinguish width from weight: a broad face does not have to be a heavy black font.

Use a short heading, a date and the longest brand word in the project. Inspect mobile line breaks and the space around round letters. Compare normal tracking first so additional letterspacing does not disguise the family’s own proportions.

Use the same wording and approximate size in each specimen. The size and tracking controls help you inspect the design; the PNG is a visual reference rather than a complete page layout.

Open a family’s official font page from its specimen when you want the font files. The selected source distributions include open licenses; review the license included with the specific files you obtain, especially if you plan to modify or redistribute them.
