Spray Paint & Dripping Font Ideas

Compare real typefaces, then choose the details that fit your words.

A spray-painted effect involves texture, overspray and edges that a normal font preview may not reproduce. This collection compares hand-drawn, dripping and marker-like alternatives, with the limits made explicit. Use the editable specimens to compare your own text, then follow the family links for background, styles and official downloads.

01

What this style means

A spray-painted effect involves texture, overspray and edges that a normal font preview may not reproduce. This collection compares hand-drawn, dripping and marker-like alternatives, with the limits made explicit.

The collection is a starting point for comparing letterforms. It does not promise that a font used for one project, brand or period is identical to any of these families.

02

Compare the families and their references

Lacquer was drawn with a paint pen and includes prominent drips. Splash and Permanent Marker provide other painted or marked directions. They are not a simulation of a physical aerosol nozzle, and none automatically adds randomized overspray.

Explore the full profiles for Lacquer, Splash, Permanent Marker. Each includes its own project description and source license, so you can judge the actual design rather than the category name alone.

03

Try it in a real layout

Choose the base letterforms first, then add a texture in a graphics app if the brief calls for it. Keep text readable when scaled down and leave extra margins around irregular outlines.

Use the same wording and approximate size in each specimen. The size and tracking controls help you inspect the design; the PNG is a visual reference rather than a complete page layout.

04

Downloads, copying and next steps

Open a family’s official font page from its specimen when you want the font files. The selected source distributions include open licenses; review the license included with the specific files you obtain, especially if you plan to modify or redistribute them.

Copying ordinary letters does not carry these typefaces to a different app. Use a font-aware design tool or export an image when the appearance matters. For the character-substitution alternative, read Unicode text versus real fonts.

GOOD QUESTIONS

Your questions, answered.

Does this produce realistic aerosol texture?

No. It previews real fonts with related visual qualities. For realistic spray effects, use a graphics workflow with brushes or textures after choosing your lettering.

Are these live previews free to use?

Yes. You can edit and compare the specimens here without payment. Use each official source link to download the font and read the included license.

Why do copied words look different in another app?

The previews use actual fonts loaded on this page. Ordinary clipboard text carries the characters, not a requirement for another app to render the same font.
