What this style means
A resume needs a clear hierarchy and enough room for its actual content. No font name by itself guarantees a successful application, parsing result or hiring outcome.
The collection is a starting point for comparing letterforms. It does not promise that a font used for one project, brand or period is identical to any of these families.
Compare the families and their references
Source Sans 3 was developed for interface text, Lato balances a friendly and restrained reading texture, and Carlito provides another document-oriented sans. Compare them in the template you intend to submit rather than judging a large specimen alone.
Explore the full profiles for Source Sans 3, Lato, Carlito. Each includes its own project description and source license, so you can judge the actual design rather than the category name alone.
Try it in a real layout
Use the employer’s or application’s stated format requirements first. Try a heading, role title, dated entry and bullet paragraph at the real page width. Adjust wording and spacing before shrinking dense content simply to fit another line.
Use the same wording and approximate size in each specimen. The size and tracking controls help you inspect the design; the PNG is a visual reference rather than a complete page layout.
As one starting reference, Harvard’s GSAS master’s resume guide recommends a common readable font at 10–12 points. Treat that as contextual guidance, not a guarantee for every application or family.
Downloads, copying and next steps
Open a family’s official font page from its specimen when you want the font files. The selected source distributions include open licenses; review the license included with the specific files you obtain, especially if you plan to modify or redistribute them.
Copying ordinary letters does not carry these typefaces to a different app. Use a font-aware design tool or export an image when the appearance matters. For the character-substitution alternative, read Unicode text versus real fonts.
Your questions, answered.
Is one font guaranteed to pass every applicant tracking system?
No. This page makes no such guarantee. Follow submission requirements and review the actual file’s readable text and layout.
Are these live previews free to use?
Yes. You can edit and compare the specimens here without payment. Use each official source link to download the font and read the included license.
Why do copied words look different in another app?
The previews use actual fonts loaded on this page. Ordinary clipboard text carries the characters, not a requirement for another app to render the same font.
