Zekton: background and attribution
Raymond Larabie released Zekton in October 2005 with square modular letters interrupted by carefully placed gaps. His first-person history distinguishes the 2024 naming changes from an April 2026 rebuild. The former changed names without outlines or spacing; the latter redrew the glyphs and replaced spacing and kerning.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
The rebuilt family includes a Semibold addition and revised weight interpolation. Larabie also documents changes to italic angles, numerals, vertical metrics and Cyrillic coverage. A modern package should therefore not be assumed to match older files just because their family names resemble one another.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Compare a short digital-style title and a numeric label in the intended edition. Inspect the narrow gaps and number spacing at the actual output size. Record the chosen version when matching older artwork so a rebuild does not silently change the layout.
For independent comparisons, try Michroma and Orbitron. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
