Separate the logo from mail text
A Yahoo font search may refer to the purple wordmark or the letters in a message editor. Identify which one you mean before choosing a family. The logo’s construction does not determine the font inside every email. For changes to message appearance, use the Yahoo Mail font-size guide rather than treating a brand reference as an application setting.
Pentagram names the wordmark’s starting family
Pentagram’s project account identifies Centra No. 2 Extrabold as the basis of the wordmark, with letters modified to be more geometric and compact. The studio describes looking back to the personality of the 1996 logo while producing a simpler, more flexible identity after the 2013 version. Naming the source family is therefore only part of the answer: the finished lettering includes deliberate changes.
The angle connects letters and graphics
The designers set the y and exclamation mark at 22.5 degrees and used that angle as a basis for a wider visual language. The project also includes a compact y-and-exclamation monogram for smaller applications. This shows how a typographic detail can organize an identity across scales. It does not mean rotating ordinary text will reproduce the custom spacing and outlines of the finished mark.
Compare fonts for an independent portal identity
Try Manrope, Montserrat and Inter on an original site name, a small navigation label and a compact icon-size crop. These are independent font comparisons, not Yahoo logo files. Decide whether punctuation belongs in the name before styling it, and keep a clear reading order in the full page. A memorable heading still needs consistent supporting text and spacing.
Your questions, answered.
What font is the Yahoo wordmark based on?
Pentagram identifies Centra No. 2 Extrabold, with custom geometric and spacing changes to the letters.
Will typing Yahoo in that font reproduce the finished logo exactly?
Not necessarily. The designer explicitly describes modifications to the source lettering and an angled y and exclamation mark.
