Identify Device’s striped display font
Device’s Vanilla account credits Rian Hughes and describes geometric, two-flavour stripes recalling Deco lettering at seaside ice-cream parlours and arcades. For a short original title, compare the word on a plain background and on the planned artwork. Keep the interior stripe gaps visible before adding another outline or texture. Monoton offers an independent line-based display comparison, not the Device alphabet.
Distinguish BLAST’s Vanilla Sans and its text features
BLAST Foundry’s original Vanilla Sans specimen credits Rafał Buchner and Barbara Bigosińska. It documents alternate a, g, l, G and J drawings, arrows, circled numerals and a variable weight range. This is a separate family from Device’s Vanilla. Make a navigation proof containing a heading, a numbered step and a direction label; change only one letter option or weight at a time so you can see which decision affects the hierarchy. Josefin Sans is an independent geometric comparison.
Treat the pattern set as artwork rather than a replacement alphabet
The BLAST specimen assigns 26 patterns to A–Z through Stylistic Set 7. Put any chosen pattern on its own layer and retain the actual title as ordinary text. Compare one short patterned band with an undecorated version, checking whether it distracts from small labels or makes a divider look like another line of writing. Keep the pattern-setting instructions in the project handoff. The homepage text styles for copy and paste uses Unicode substitutions rather than transferring either maker’s font files or BLAST’s OpenType pattern selection.
Your questions, answered.
Are Device Vanilla and BLAST Vanilla Sans the same family?
No. They are separate resources from different makers. Select the publisher and full family name before comparing files or features.
Do the Vanilla Sans pattern glyphs preserve the sentence when copied?
The pattern drawings are selected through a font feature. Preserve a separate plain-text wording reference and use the relevant font or exported artwork when the drawings must remain visible.
