Identify the custom Plaak project
205TF’s Utah Jazz account dates its project to 2021–22 and credits type designer Damien Gautier, with graphic design by the team and The New Company. The foundry customized Plaak for materials including players’ jerseys. It replaced smooth counter edges with rectangular ones and carried that treatment across different widths. This is evidence for a particular custom version, not a promise that buying ordinary Plaak supplies the team’s exact files.
Keep UT-ISO separate from the Plaak commission
Jacob Wise’s own project archive describes UT-ISO, a 2020 Jazz custom typeface derived by readjusting and expanding his earlier Skrappa. He lists condensed, semi-expanded and expanded cuts. The two accounts document different projects, so record the source, family and year beside each reference rather than merging their features into one supposed Jazz font. Neither account establishes a single family for every past logo or current team asset.
Compare width and counter shape independently
For a personal study, make two rows of the sample in Roboto Condensed and Anton, labeled as independent comparisons. First equalize the cap height; then compare word length, the space inside U and A, and the amount of room left for the number. Keep that width study separate from a sketch of rectangular versus curved counters. Do not reshape a licensed font and call the result either custom original. For roster layouts, consult the jersey-font guide. The homepage character-style tools change Unicode text rather than loading Plaak, UT-ISO or other original team fonts.
Your questions, answered.
Did the Jazz use a customized Plaak?
205TF documents a 2021–22 custom Plaak project, including rectangular counters and multiple widths.
Is UT-ISO another name for Plaak?
No. Jacob Wise identifies UT-ISO as his separate 2020 custom project based on Skrappa; 205TF credits its Plaak commission to Damien Gautier.
