Twentieth Century: background and attribution
Sol Hess designed Twentieth Century in the Monotype drawing-office tradition. The publisher relates its geometric forms to early-twentieth-century German design and distinguishes lighter text resources from bolder and condensed display directions. This is separate from Daniel Pelavin’s different family carrying the same name.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
Compare the exact Monotype resource and its width, weight and italic choices. A name written as 20th Century does not automatically identify a film studio’s title lettering or every unrelated font with a century-themed name.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Try a geometric identity heading and a longer text line. Josefin Sans and Montserrat offer independently designed geometric-oriented comparisons. Evaluate the lowercase proportions and spacing in the intended layout.
For independent comparisons, try Josefin Sans and Montserrat. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
