TT Ramillas: background and attribution
TypeType released TT Ramillas on 24 September 2020 and records a substantial update on 11 February 2025. The credited team includes Pavel Emelyanov, Antonina Zhulkova, Marina Khodak, Ivan Gladkikh and the TypeType team. Its development reinterprets traditional serif forms for contemporary settings.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
High contrast and small flared serifs define the family’s texture. The 2025 release lists 28 resources across roman, italic, decorative, flower-patterned initials and variable fonts. That total is not a sequence of 28 ordinary weights; the subfamilies perform different jobs.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Compare a magazine headline, a short introductory paragraph and one decorative initial. Inspect the finer strokes at final output size. Use the ordinary text styles for the paragraph before adding a decorative branch, and check the exact language characters your copy requires.
For independent comparisons, try Prata and Playfair Display. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
