TypeType released TT Moons in 2016 and documents a 2025 update adding variable versions and technical refinements. The foundry presents it as a contemporary narrow serif drawing on a classical visual language. Distinguish that modern family history from the much earlier history of high-contrast serif typography.

The family combines narrow proportions with pronounced contrast. The documented range includes five upright weights, corresponding italics and two variable fonts, one upright and one italic. The foundry recommends medium and larger sizes. Inspect the thinnest strokes at the intended output size instead of selecting a cut from a large specimen alone.

Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.

Make a magazine opening with a headline, italic introduction and caption. Compare title length and line breaks across weights without squeezing the letters. Use a longer paragraph to decide whether a separate body-text face is needed, especially when the heading treatment is delicate or closely spaced.
