TT Hoves Pro: background and attribution

TypeType’s TT Hoves Pro develops a sans-serif design around the relationship of horizontal and vertical strokes; those words also explain the name. The publisher identifies a continuing Pro edition with additional glyphs, widths and other revisions, so check the release of an older TT Hoves file before matching it.

Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.

02

Forms, styles and what to inspect

Low visual stroke contrast and aligned terminals are part of the design. The current system includes separate Mono and Expanded options and variable width, weight and slant controls. A monospaced branch changes advance widths and deserves its own comparison rather than being treated as the same text setting.

Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.

03

Try it in a real layout

Try an interface panel containing a label, a sentence, a code and a number. Compare proportional text with a monospaced detail only where alignment is useful. Barlow and Geologica provide independent sans alternatives with their own construction and spacing.

For independent comparisons, try Barlow and Geologica. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
