Distinguish the sans-serif resource from the serif namesake
Geronimo Font Studios’ own Timeline listing offers Timeline.ttf as a free sans-serif resource with capitals and basic punctuation. KongFont’s original Timeline page describes a separate serif display family and supplies its own specimen and licensing choices. These are unrelated products sharing a name. Record the maker beside a saved specimen, and inspect the actual character inventory before planning mixed-case text or translated captions. Do not transfer the free-use statement from Geronimo’s resource to KongFont’s package.
Keep the designer’s curve revision with the resource record
Geronimo’s author note dates a curve revision to November 13, 2014, explaining a move toward heavier-looking, less rounded forms. The archive’s separate December update date is not the same thing as that documented design change. If an old project and a newly obtained file differ, retain both resource records while comparing the complete title. Do not treat two identical filenames as proof of identical drawing. For an original CURVE STUDY heading, compare round letters beside straight-stemmed letters at a fixed visible size, then inspect the spacing of the full word.
Proof the chosen font in a realistic heading and caption system
Build an original exhibition panel with a title, a short caption and three dated entries. Keep the dates in an ordinary readable companion while comparing the headline. A font with limited punctuation may work for the title but fail when the caption introduces a required symbol. Test those characters before committing to the panel. Jost and Playfair Display below are independent sans and serif comparisons, not previews of the two Timeline products. The homepage copyable font-style choices change Unicode characters; they do not preserve a font’s revised outlines or install either named resource. For the separate file-selection task, see the font-format guide.
Your questions, answered.
Is every Timeline font free?
Geronimo offers its own resource as free. KongFont’s separately named serif has its own licensing choices, so identify the maker before applying a usage statement.
Does Timeline automatically create a chronological diagram?
No. A typeface supplies letterforms. The dates, connectors, spacing and information hierarchy of a diagram must be composed separately.
