Tenorite: background and attribution
Erin McLaughlin and Wei Huang designed Tenorite as one of Microsoft’s five proposed successors to Calibri, introduced in 2021. Its designers sought wider, rounder and crisper forms with generous spacing for document paragraphs. Microsoft ultimately chose Aptos as its default while retaining the other contenders.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
Tenorite Display is intentionally narrower than the text-oriented design, with its own weight treatment. Large circular punctuation is another deliberate feature of the family. A Display label therefore identifies more than an ordinary size change or a duplicate with tighter tracking.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Compare a Word-style paragraph with a short presentation heading in Display. Inspect punctuation, accents and wrapping in the actual application. Keep the text and display choices recorded when sharing an editable document.
For independent comparisons, try Inter and Manrope. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
