TAN Aegean: background and attribution

TAN Aegean is a serif family offered through the TanType creator shop. Keep this attribution with the family name when comparing references: Aegean by itself can refer to a different project. The original listing is the reference for the particular product and its available resources.

Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.

02

Forms, styles and what to inspect

Inspect the serif details, capital proportions and spacing in the original specimen. Compare the words you need rather than assuming that a promotional image shows every supported character. A matching mood between two serif families does not establish matching metrics or interchangeable outlines.

Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.

03

Try it in a real layout

Create a title, a short subtitle and a compact caption using your actual text. Compare the title at screen size and at its intended printed size. When choosing a companion, make the difference in role clear through scale and spacing before adding extra decorative styles.

For independent comparisons, try Prata and Vidaloka. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
