01

Supra: background and attribution

This guide covers Gert Wiescher’s Supra sans serif family, designed in 2012–2013 according to the publisher. Its source emphasizes a substantial x-height, long ascenders and weights for both reading and display. A search for automotive Supra lettering can refer to a different subject; this attribution identifies the typeface discussed here.

Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.

02

Forms, styles and what to inspect

Compare normal reading text with the light and heavy headline resources. The source describes small capitals, figure options and fractions, so inspect those features in an actual paragraph or numeric arrangement. Do not assume that an available Thin sample supplies the full family or every license.

Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.

03

Try it in a real layout

Prepare a report heading, a paragraph and a table. Compare regular and italic emphasis without changing content or size. Use the numeric setting appropriate to the table and judge the resulting page rhythm rather than a single large specimen line.

For independent comparisons, try Source Sans 3 and Open Sans. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
