Suisse: background and attribution
Swiss Typefaces presents Suisse as a coordinated system with multiple collections. Suisse Int’l develops a grotesk direction associated with the Swiss Style, while the broader family also includes serif, screen-oriented, monospaced and condensed branches.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
Int’l, Works, Screen, Int’l Mono, Int’l Condensed and Neue are distinct collections in the coordinated system. Do not transfer one branch’s script or style description to every other collection. Use the Suisse Int’l guide for the grotesque branch, and keep the broader system name when the task involves choosing among collections.
A serif reading face, a monospaced resource and a screen-oriented design answer different layout questions. Establish the branch before comparing a width, weight or alternate, and record its full name in the project notes.
Try it in a real layout
Choose the branch required by the layout before comparing individual fonts. Inter and Source Sans 3 offer independent sans-serif comparisons for the Int’l and screen-oriented discussion; they do not stand in for every serif or monospace branch in the system.
For independent comparisons, try Inter and Source Sans 3. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
