Name the Mecherle commission with its project context
Design director Jaymes Moore’s 2019–2020 State Farm account credits Wolff Olins and Displaay Foundry with the Mecherle type family, named after State Farm’s founder. The design integrates the brand’s oval into letter dots and counterforms. This is a documented custom alphabet within an identity project, not evidence that an ordinary retail font reproduces the logo or that every historic State Farm document uses Mecherle.
Compare the oval as a letter detail and as a container
Moore distinguishes the oval’s roles in typography, iconography, imagery and motion. For an original community-information card, begin with neighbor, information and PLAN A in your own chosen family. Identify dots, enclosed spaces and icon shapes before adding an oval border around everything. Compare one restrained recurring shape with a version that repeats it in every available space. Decide whether the motif connects the system or overwhelms the information. Inter and Jost here are independent specimens, not the Mecherle files.
Check the information component without the full logo
Create a small notice panel with a heading, a short explanation and a plain action label. Review it apart from the large masthead: can consistent lettering and spacing hold the hierarchy when the prominent symbol is absent? This is an independent layout exercise, not an authorized State Farm template. Keep the actual font family recorded alongside the component. For a short social message, the copyable text styles on the homepage change Unicode characters; they do not install Mecherle or reproduce a commissioned type system.
Your questions, answered.
What is State Farm’s Mecherle font?
It is the custom family documented in the 2019–2020 Wolff Olins project, created with Displaay Foundry and named after the founder.
Can I use the previews as State Farm’s original typeface?
No. Inter and Jost are independently named comparison fonts. The linked design case does not provide a public Mecherle download here.
