Squealer: background and attribution
Raymond Larabie describes Squealer as an expansion of Gerard Huerta’s 1977 AC/DC logo lettering into an alphabet. His retrospective records the regular and embossed treatments and later technical updates. A font inspired by a logo is distinct from a permission to present a new design as that band’s official identity.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
The creator records spacing, quotation-mark and vertical-metric corrections in June 2021 and a public-domain release in April 2022. Regular and Embossed have different internal treatments. Consult the creator’s catalog for the exact resources rather than inferring their terms from an older mirror.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Compare a short music-poster title in regular and embossed forms. Inspect internal details at reduced size and check quotation marks in the actual copy. Keep the decorative line distinct from small venue and ticket information.
For independent comparisons, try UnifrakturCook and Pirata One. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
