Soria: background and attribution
Bydani published the Soria project on Behance in March 2016, describing influences from Art Nouveau and Didot-style lettering. This guide’s principal source concerns that display design. Don Marciano later published a different uppercase sans-serif called Soria; the matching name does not make them one family.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
The bydani project offers a free download, but the package terms still identify what uses are allowed. Compare the original specimen’s display forms. Do not transfer Don Marciano’s personal-use terms, character map or Bold resource to bydani’s unrelated design.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Try a short editorial heading with the actual accents and punctuation needed. Compare the balance between decorative forms and clean supporting copy. When sending a font request to a collaborator, include the creator name and source link to avoid selecting the other Soria.
For independent comparisons, try Italiana and Playfair Display. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
Official preview and font resources
Use bydani to try the original and investigate the files, styles and terms for your intended workflow. This site does not distribute or serve Soria font software.
The editable alternatives here have their own source profiles and included licenses. For the difference between a font file and copied characters, read Unicode text versus fonts.
