Read the creator’s tracing and feature notes
Fredrick Brennan’s original repository describes a recreation inspired by SpongeBob title, credit and time cards. The creator hand-traced reference glyphs, preserved Q and I variants through stylistic alternates, and added diagonal fractions after finding fractional time-card wording. The project documents later script expansion and an SIL Open Font License. This is a documented fan project, not an official studio font release; the repository and author’s specimen listing are the original resource references.
Compare the Q and I variants in real words
In the actual font and a supporting editor, set a short original title containing Q or I, then compare the default and available stylistic alternate. Keep the wording unchanged so the shape difference is visible. Check whether the replacement affects spacing beside its neighbors before making it the choice for the whole series. Save the feature setting with the editable file rather than flattening every word immediately. Chewy and Knewave here are independent display comparisons, not Some Time Later or its alternate glyphs.
Test a fraction before exporting the time card
Enter a short fictional duration containing a typed fraction, inspect the editor’s fraction feature, and compare its output with the unformatted input. Keep the numerator, denominator and following unit visually distinct; do not shrink the entire title to rescue one crowded fraction. Test the finished card at its intended screen size and keep a plain-text version of the timing in the project notes. For a copyable chat line, the playful intertitle-text generator substitutes Unicode characters; it does not activate the font’s OpenType alternates, preserve its fraction construction or generate an animated title card.
Your questions, answered.
Is Some Time Later an official SpongeBob font release?
The original creator presents it as a recreation inspired by the show’s lettering. Keep that fan-project attribution separate from official production assets.
What special letter features does it document?
The creator specifically describes Q and I stylistic alternates and a diagonal-fractions feature. Inspect those functions in the actual font and an editor that supports them.
