Wolfgang Homola’s Soleil was released in 2011 after development for a Vienna building’s signage system. Its geometric appearance grew from sketches and optical adjustments rather than circles alone. The family offers seven weights with italic companions and a separate Magic Caps display treatment. The 2026 update adds weight-axis variable fonts and Vietnamese and Pinyin support. Tall ascenders, generous counters and a large x-height contribute to its construction; actual readability still depends on size, spacing and setting.
