Find the official resource
Apple’s font page provides the SF Pro download and describes its weights, widths and optical-size behavior. Use that source for the exact current package rather than relying on an unrelated mirror’s filename or free label.
Keep the documentation supplied with the actual resource you obtain.
Distinguish related system designs
Apple distinguishes SF Pro, the compact watch-oriented design, the monospaced variant and its serif companion. Their roles differ; a San Francisco label does not mean every file has the same metrics or behavior.
Read the Apple New York guide for the separately named serif companion.
Use APIs for an Apple interface
Apple’s Fonts documentation describes obtaining system typography through framework APIs and warns against bundling system font resources. Naming a font directly can also lose adaptive behavior provided by the system workflow.
Choose the supported approach for the platform and context of your actual application.
Compare independent alternatives
Inter and Roboto offer useful sans-serif comparisons with their own official source and license information. They are not renamed SF Pro files or guaranteed metric-compatible replacements.
Test the same labels, numerals and paragraph in each. The font library helps inspect the individual designs before preparing a cross-platform layout.
Your questions, answered.
Does free download mean unrestricted SF Pro embedding?
No. Use Apple’s official resource and its applicable terms. A downloadable design asset does not itself authorize every redistribution or embedding workflow.
Do these previews load SF Pro?
No. The editable specimens are separately named Inter and Roboto comparisons.
