Selima: background and attribution
Jroh Creative’s creator-submitted Selima release identifies it as a brush script and explicitly offers free use, including commercial work. The directory first recorded that release in April 2019. This is a distribution date, not a reason to invent an earlier handwritten origin story.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
The release includes font files and a character preview. A brush-style font supplies repeatable glyph shapes rather than a new brush gesture for every keystroke. Inspect the actual punctuation and accents before choosing it for names or multilingual messages.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Try a short greeting and an expressive title above plain supporting text. Reduce the artwork to its actual output size to inspect brush details and joins. Avoid using extra tracking where it separates forms intended to flow together.
For independent comparisons, try Yellowtail and Caveat Brush. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
