Scandia: background and attribution
Process Type Foundry announced Scandia and Scandia Line in March 2015. Its account explains that Line came first as a skeletal sans serif built without curves, while Scandia kept the related circular proportions and introduced generous curves. The two share an underlying relationship but were designed to have different personalities.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
The current Scandia catalog lists four upright weights with italic counterparts and a separate Stencil treatment. The related Scandia Line is a different family, not another name for the ordinary Scandia resource. The foundry also documents alternate forms and stylistic features that should be inspected in the original specimen.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Compare a title and paragraph in the ordinary family before introducing Stencil as an accent. Evaluate the shaped letterforms rather than trying to simulate Line or Stencil with a filter. Keep supporting text at realistic sizes, and compare punctuation and repeated letters in the actual project wording.
For independent comparisons, try Manrope and Montserrat. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.

Your questions, answered.
How does Scandia relate to Scandia Line?
The foundry says Line came first without curves, while Scandia retained related proportions and added generous curves. They are distinct families.
Does Scandia include italic resources?
The cited current catalog lists upright and italic resources in four weights, alongside Stencil.
Can I reproduce Scandia Stencil with an outline effect?
An effect does not guarantee the designed letterforms, gaps or spacing. Inspect the original Stencil resource when a match matters.
