Satisfaction: background and attribution
Andrew Leman’s Satisfaction draws on lettering in cigarette advertisements from the 1930s. E-phemera describes Satisfaction Pro as an expanded and improved OpenType version of the earlier font. This is a specific advertising-lettering reference rather than a claim that the digital font itself dates to that period.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
The Pro edition includes small capitals, lining and oldstyle figures, contextual alternates and discretionary ligatures. Those additional forms help vary handwritten-looking settings. Check the edition before assuming the original and Pro resources contain the same glyphs.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Try a short vintage-style headline with the default lettering, then enable selected contextual forms. Compare number styles when adding a date or price. Keep the decorative line separate from dense factual copy so the period character remains an accent.
For independent comparisons, try Yellowtail and Satisfy. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
