01

Roobert: background and attribution

Martin Vácha’s Roobert began as a custom typeface for Moogfest 2017 and is named for electronic-music pioneer Robert Moog. The foundry identifies the Moog logotype as a starting reference, including its distinctive lowercase g. The family extends that idea into a broader geometric sans-serif system.

Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.

02

Forms, styles and what to inspect

Horizontal and vertical terminals and smooth stem connections define its monolinear texture. The collection contains proportional and more monospaced branches, with variable controls documented in the specimen. Choose the exact branch and script resource rather than assuming all collection-level features belong to every file.

Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.

03

Try it in a real layout

Compare a short interface heading and a numeric panel. Inspect lowercase g and punctuation in the original specimen, then compare spacing across the collection’s branches. Record the selected branch and variable settings when sharing an editable layout.

For independent comparisons, try Manrope and DM Sans. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
