Separate the wordmark from discussion text
A Reddit font question may concern the written logo, a promotional heading or the text inside a post. Record the particular reference rather than assuming they are identical. User-supplied images can contain their own fonts, and an interface can also rely on different typography for different roles. A screenshot’s largest word does not explain every smaller line visible beside it.
Pentagram’s documented 2023 project
Pentagram says Reddit approached the studio in late 2022 and describes the resulting 2023 work as a move toward a more cohesive identity. Its account names Reddit Sans as the starting point for customized wordmark lettering. Rounded lowercase counters were developed into conversation-bubble shapes, leading to Reddit Display for headlines and large-scale typography. That establishes specific relationships among the type and brand assets.
A letter detail became a compositional device
The project extends the conversation bubble beyond lettering into frames for text and images, with motion behavior for revealing content. This provides a concrete example of typography informing a wider system. It does not mean every discussion message should sit in an ornamental bubble. Keep expressive identity elements separate from the functional spacing and hierarchy needed to follow a long exchange.
Build an independent community interface
Compare Inter, Manrope and Source Sans 3 using a post title, username, timestamp and several replies. Make the nesting and reading order clear before decorating the headings. These specimens are independent choices, not a bundle of Reddit identity assets. For a community announcement, try one expressive title while leaving dates and participation instructions in a steady text style.
Your questions, answered.
What is Reddit Display?
Pentagram describes it as custom display typography developed from the conversation-bubble idea for headlines and large-scale use.
Does the wordmark prove the font in every Reddit post?
No. The identity account distinguishes display and wordmark work; individual interface contexts and user images require their own reference.
