Receipt Fonts and Printer Lettering

Epson’s ESC/POS font-selection documentation explains that the configurations of Font A and Font B depend on the printer model. A label such as Font A therefore does not establish one downloadable typeface for every receipt.

Use the exact model’s documentation when working with a real device. A desktop font chosen for a visual mockup does not necessarily map to the printer’s internal text resources.

Start with the paper width, printable area and longest expected item line. Align prices consistently and reserve enough room for quantities and totals. Include decimals, currency signs and long item names in your sample.

Roboto Mono provides a clean fixed-width comparison. VT323 offers an independent screen-derived direction. Neither is claimed to be the original font inside your receipt printer.

Printer text depends on supported characters and the selected encoding. Epson publishes model-specific code-page support, illustrating why an accent or currency sign may require attention even when ordinary English text works.

For a real workflow, match the application’s text encoding to the printer configuration. If artwork is rendered as an image instead, examine the final output size and readability rather than expecting the internal text settings to affect it.

For a fictional prop or layout concept, choose a suitable monospaced font and label sample information clearly. For a working receipt system, obtain the printer’s documentation and use the correct driver or command workflow.
