Quasimoda: background and attribution

Quasimoda is Botio Nikoltchev’s sans serif family from Lettersoup. The publisher description plays on the idea of being almost fashionable while retaining proportions associated with nineteenth-century grotesques. Use that account as design context rather than describing the font as a surviving nineteenth-century release.

Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.

02

Forms, styles and what to inspect

Compare the character of lighter and heavier wording in the original specimen. The Lettersoup page provides language and glyph information, useful when an English heading is only one part of the project. Confirm the actual required characters and contextual forms instead of treating a broad language list as a complete test.

Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.

03

Try it in a real layout

Prepare an editorial heading, a reading paragraph and a bold callout. Compare the same text across weights and keep a clear distinction between emphasis and body copy. For a multilingual composition, include the real names and punctuation from the project in the sample.

For independent comparisons, try Source Sans 3 and Open Sans. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
