Ohio State names its own Buckeye families
Ohio State’s College of Arts and Sciences brand resource identifies Buckeye Sans 2 and Buckeye Serif 2 as university brand fonts and points to Buckeye UX for web work. These named identity families are a more precise answer to an academic Ohio State font search than a generic collegiate block alphabet.
The documented application and date matter
The university’s signage manual, revised August 14, 2025, lists Buckeye Sans 2 in Regular, Semibold, Bold and ExtraBold and Buckeye Serif 2 Semibold. Separately, the July 2026 BUX body-copy update makes Buckeye Sans the default for most digital body copy in BUX 1.6. A sign specification and a web design-system update answer different production questions; neither identifies every athletic uniform.
Separate navigation from academic reading
For an independent university-style resource, compare a short section label, a long department name and a paragraph containing course codes. Keep menu text stable across pages and let editorial titles wrap. A long title should not force every navigation item into a condensed treatment. Show contact details and building names at realistic sizes before deciding how much visual emphasis the headline needs.
Use comparisons as a layout exercise
Manrope and Inter provide independent sans-serif specimens; Source Serif 4 lets you study a serif reading voice alongside them. They are not Buckeye font downloads. Build a two-column event handout with identical text in each comparison, then inspect hierarchy and crowded names. Obtain actual university assets through Ohio State’s designated brand resources for official work.
Your questions, answered.
What are Ohio State’s academic brand fonts?
The cited university resource names Buckeye Sans 2 and Buckeye Serif 2, with Buckeye UX supporting web implementation.
Is an Ohio State jersey font the same thing?
An athletic uniform is a separate application. The academic brand and signage sources here should not be used to identify a particular jersey alphabet.
