Mori: background and attribution
Mori is Caio Kondo’s Pangram Pangram family, with Mat Desjardins and Satsuki Arakaki credited as collaborators. The publisher describes a gothic sans serif inspired by contemporary Japanese design. That influence does not establish a complete Japanese text font: inspect the actual supported characters for the project.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
Compare the alternate letters and figure choices in the creator specimen. The current family includes upright and italic styles, variable resources and distinctive details in letters such as r and g. A resource containing some Japanese punctuation is different from one supporting an entire Japanese writing system.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Try an editorial heading, a short paragraph and a compact numeric label. Compare the defaults with one selected alternate before changing weight. Keep the source and resource version in the project notes so the same forms can be reproduced later.
For independent comparisons, try DM Sans and Inter. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
