Moranga: background and attribution
Sofia Mohr designed Moranga for Latinotype, whose family page records publication on 24 January 2020. The foundry describes its retro character as a combination of flowing, organic forms associated with Café Brasil and elements of popular 1970s typefaces such as Cooper and Souvenir. These are the stated design references, rather than evidence that Moranga itself is a historical metal type. Its contemporary release translates that mixture into a coordinated serif family for expressive modern typography.

Forms, styles and what to inspect
Latinotype lists five weights with corresponding italics, making ten styles from Light to Black. The publisher emphasizes a strong personality and recommends headlines, display use and friendly, high-impact compositions. Its documented character set exceeds four hundred characters and supports more than two hundred Latin-based languages. Compare upright and italic choices in the original specimen, especially if an expressive title includes accents. The broad retro association should not be confused with identical outlines or spacing to its historical references.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Make a neighborhood food-festival poster with one short title, a date and a plain location line. Compare Regular and Black at the same visible height before selecting a color palette. Use the italic for one deliberate point of contrast rather than every supporting line. Include the longest actual event name in the proof, then inspect a small social-card version to see whether the friendly shapes and internal spaces remain clear when the poster is reduced.
For independent comparisons, try Corben and Lora. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
