Mongoose: background and attribution
Kostić Type Foundry credits Nikola Kostić for Mongoose, a condensed sans serif intended for posters, headlines and logotypes. The foundry explains that its capital and x-height dimensions were coordinated with the much wider Briller family, making their difference in width a deliberate pairing option.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
The family spans Thin through Black with italics. Its figure resources include tabular and proportional widths, fractions and superior or inferior positions. Number selection can therefore change alignment independently of the letter width.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Compare a compact heading with a column of numbers in the same layout. Enable tabular figures for vertical alignment and inspect the heavier weights at small sizes. Use a wider companion deliberately when the design needs a strong contrast in proportions.
For independent comparisons, try Antonio and Roboto Condensed. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
