Modernline: background and attribution
Ef Studio developed Modernline as an organic handwritten collection and later added a bold version. The studio’s product explanation is particularly useful because it describes how the ordinary letters and tail resources work together rather than presenting the flourishes as a separate unrelated design.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
Regular and bold resources are accompanied by tail files for beginning and ending swashes. The creator separates those files to help applications without convenient alternate-glyph controls. Ligatures and other special forms can also depend on the application’s character-access features.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Set the main word in the ordinary resource, then add a beginning or ending form using the creator’s tail-file instructions. Inspect the first and last letter joins and leave room for the flourishes. Compare regular and bold at the final size before choosing.
For independent comparisons, try Allison and Sacramento. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
